Know Your Enemy – Roman Empire & British Empire –> American Empire

Roman Empire – Religion (Pharisee) 1st Century power/control partnership (the state)

I was not always aware of the entity that sees me as the enemy. I did not one day just decide that it was my enemy. Over my six decades I have seen more clearly what was hidden by those with evil intentions. Evil prides itself as being seen as a friend, providing benefits even if they have to rob someone else to achieve that. This entity has no ethics, no principles and is selfish to its core. This enemy is the state.

In my youth I knew of this entity, and saw how it dealt with those that would not bow down to it (i.e. JFK assassination in 1963). I saw how corrupt this entity was that sent tens of thousands of young men to Vietnam based on lies that it told (i.e. the domino theory of Communism and the Gulf of Tonkin incident) and following this the details laid bare by the Church Commission in the mid-1970s that showed to the people just a tip of the iceberg called government corruption.

In spite of this I joined the US Navy when the 1960s policy of Affirmative Action made college aid non-attainable. For over six years I learned the inside of one arm of the state, the military-industrial complex and the federal government itself. I then understood how the US Postal Service, Amtrak and other government entities could never become “customer-centric” and would always soak the taxpayer as it ran services in the most inefficient and ineffective ways. Yet, I thought that this disease had not spread to other areas of government “safety-nets” like Social Security and Medicare, but I was wrong.

By the 2000s, with the War on Terror effort to scare Americans into a new world order and the 9/11 Commission’s inability to come to grips with the real truth behind the scenes, I finally saw things coming together. I saw and understood how other nations like Iraq, Iran, Libya and Syria are treated by the American Empire, like 2nd class citizens of the world that could be made into refugees as their communities, societies and nations were destroyed based on lies.

Domestically, the Federal Reserve helps to make self-sufficiency and saving money impossible with the constant printing of money to offset the government’s spending of trillions of dollars with no thoughts towards honoring their debts to the Military-Industrial Complex’s effort to ensure their pockets get filled in the years of potential peace after the Cold War, the people of the United States are viewed as tax cattle OR more appropriately in 2020/2021 called tax sheep (slaves) that can be scared into total submission and total slavery in this new era of bio-terrorism.

The 2019 Event 201 / Covid-19 Plan-n-Case-demic PLUS the Great Reset has been Coup d’tat 9.0 in this nation’s history. (The US Constitution in 1787 was Coup d’tat 1.0) The peak of freedom and liberty actually being enjoyed by the pioneers that escaped Europe mainly in the mid-1700s for the British American colonies. The relative minor clampdown on these liberties with the Stamp Act, Sugar Act and the like triggered the common man (men and women and children) to see the British Empire as their enemy. The entity of the state had made itself known from the Egyptians to the Greek and Romans and then matured (sarcasm) into the modern state where monarchy (royalty and religion) ruled. Sure there were alternative efforts that reduced the state’s direct control of their populations by the Dutch Republics from 1550s-1750s approximately as well as the Swiss Confederation of cantons. But the majority structure to control the masses was the king.

It was in this context that American colonists attempted to create a novel solution to what they had seen go bad in every monarchy. In each American colony there were micro-efforts that preceded the Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. A federated republic were words that mattered, and carried with it an idea that government needed to SERVE the people wisely in the limited areas that they were chained down to.

In order to understand the enemy, even one that is chained down, requires understanding the birth of the state (no, the state is not eternal, it neither was historically always there, nor will it live forever) as well as the health of the state.

In search of understanding my enemy (which my own government has declared blatantly over the past year or so) I have started reading a book ( Chaining Down Leviathan) authored by a European that targets a thorough review of the attempt to chain down the state here in America from 1776-1865.

This is a study of American political thought between the secession from Britain and the War Between the States. This period was a struggle between the Jeffersonian and the Hamiltonian visions of America. The Jeffersonians favored a highly decentralized federation of sovereign states, whereas the Hamiltonians favored a highly centralized state with a veto on state legislation. This sort of polity has been called “the modern state,” which was a creation of European monarchs. When the monarchies were overthrown, it took on the form of mass democracy and national elections, both of which greatly expanded central power beyond anything the monarchs could have imagined.

When Britain tried to incorporate the colonies into a British version of  the modern state, they resisted and won their independence. Most of the founders did not want an American version of the same planted in America. But some did. Hamilton and others seceded from Britain not because they opposed the modern state, but because they wanted to create an American version and govern it themselves. They failed. The Jeffersonians, though contested, dominated from 1776 to 1861. Lincoln inherited this Hamiltonian tradition and launched an invasion of the South, not to free slaves, but to prevent secession and securely plant a modern style European state in America where none had existed before.

In the balance of my years I desire to know my enemy so I can prepare myself, my family and my friends for the road ahead. We need many more wise students of history to take of the research necessary to help us all understand not only what the colonists faced with the British Empire in the 1770s but also what Jesus-followers faced with the Roman Empire in the 1st century.

Hope for liberty and freedom is an idea that has never been needed more than now in today’s American Empire. Keep the flame alive for the next generations!

PS A possible companion book to this more historical one is a recent publication that deals with Coup d’tat 9.0 called The Truth About Covid-19: Exposing the Great Reset, Lockdowns, Vaccine Passports and the New Normal.

Since early 2020, the world has experienced a series of catastrophic events―a global pandemic caused by what appears to be an engineered coronavirus; international lockdowns and border closings causing widespread business closures, economic collapse, and massive unemployment; and an unprecedented curtailment of civil liberties and freedoms in the name of keeping people safe by locking them up in their homes.

We are now living in a world that is increasingly ruled, not by our democratic systems and institutions, but by public health fiat, carried out by politicians who rule by instilling fear and panic.

In The Truth About COVID-19, Dr. Mercola and Cummins reveal new and emerging evidence that:

  • The SARS-CoV-2 virus was, indeed, lab-engineered and emerged from a negligently managed bioweapons lab in Wuhan, China
  • The global pandemic was long anticipated by global elites who have used it to facilitate and hide the largest upward transfer of wealth in human history
  • PCR testing, case counts, morbidity, and vaccine safety and efficacy data have been widely manipulated and misrepresented
  • Obesity, diabetes, and heart disease are known to worsen COVID-19 outcomes, but the junk food industry continues to push its agenda at the expense of public health
  • Safe, simple, and inexpensive treatment and prevention for COVID-19 have been censored and suppressed to create a clear path for vaccine acceptance
  • Effectiveness of the vaccines has been wildly exaggerated and major safety questions have gone unanswered

The good news in all of this is that we can take control of our health and that, together, we have the power to unite and fight back for our health, democracy, and freedom.

No matter how accurate you think Dr. Mercola and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are in their research, there is bound to be a lot of information that is spot on. Their distrust of the state is not just a way they gain popularity, believe me, being a proclaimed enemy of the state is not the easy way forward, but a required one for those whose hearts are burdened for the generations that follow. In this regard, these two men have indeed “stayed the course”.

Be like these men and rise to the challenge to do the same!

Democrat’s Blind-spot is Facts, GOP’s Blind-spot is Emotion on This One – Nanny State Over-reach

The one US political party, including both wings, gets various national topics so wrong almost 100% of the time whether it is the economy, foreign policy OR their favorite one to argue over, the nanny/police state.

As David Stockman points out clearly in his article “Triumph of the Woke Mob Led By Two Doddering Old Fools” …

Nanny State over-reach was the underlying cause of George Floyd’s arrest and  unjust death—just as it is the source of most of America’s unfortunate violence between  police and unarmed citizens, back, white and otherwise.

The facts of ‘racism’ NOT causing all this doesn’t deter the Democrats since it has been an effective rallying cry and the GOP remains stuck in the religious fervor around the blue-line’s effort in the War on Drugs/People overreach. In fact, the blow-back of each wing’s push just intensifies the whole conflict with disrespects the people while triggering the masses to back the state in whatever solutions they come up with. It is a sick cycle  that sees the poor, disadvantaged and unarmed at the mercy of the state.

Needless to say, the George Floyd case was not an aberration. During the recent past  there were 38 such police killings of unarmed black citizens in 2015, and then 19, 21,  17 and 9 during 2016 through 2019, respectively. That’s 104 black lives lost to the  ultimate abuse of police powers.

Of course, the number should be zero police killings of unarmed citizens. There is no  conceivable excuse for heavily armed cops—-usually working in pairs or groups—to  cause the death of lone, unarmed civilians, regardless of race or anything else.

Unarmed seems to still unnerve the state-empowered police effort, however, it gets even more ridiculous when one learns the REASON the police were involved:

.. the Minneapolis police officers originally attempted to put George Floyd  safely in the back seat of a squad car after his arrest for the petty crime of attempting to  pass a counterfeit $20 bill, but he resisted them intensely for up to five minutes .. Floyd’s death was due to an arrest which shouldn’t have happened and bad police  behavior that has nothing to do with race.

Yup. the Left’s “it’s because he’s black” doesn’t stick here and the GOP’s “he should just bow to the Redcoats and the crown” doesn’t either. This “crime” is outside the scope of the police, as it was the store’s issue to deal with as there was zero threat of violence from this man towards others and towards the Redcoats.

During the same five-year period in which 104 black lives were lost, a total of 127  unarmed white lives were wasted by the police, as well. That included 32 white  killings in 2015 followed by 22, 31, 23 and 19 in 2016 through 2019, respectively.

Overall, 302 unarmed citizens were killed by the police during those five years, with  the balance accounted for by 71 deaths among Hispanic and other victims. That is, the  real issue is illegal and excessive police violence, not racial victimization.

Indeed, the fact that 34% of these police killings involved black citizens compared to  their 13% share of the population is not primarily a sign of racism among police forces,  although it is continuously construed to be.

It’s actually evidence that the Nanny State, and especially the misbegotten War on  Drugs, is designed to unnecessarily ensnare a distinct demographic— young, poor, often  unemployed urban citizens— in confrontations with the cops, too many of which  become fatal.

Alas, young black males are disproportionately represented among this particular in harms’-way demographic, and that’s the reason they are “disproportionately”  represented in the 302 cases cited above.

White lives matter too, so the facts seem to suggest a “wrong place at a wrong time” situation here as the police only target the part of town that has a lot of young, poor and unemployed.  Amazingly, getting anyone hopped up on power can easily expand the scope of involvement of the Redcoats in the area, not content with solving REAL crime, they focus on low-hanging fruit just like a deputized HOA Karen does:

But I digress.

.. statism in the sphere of law and order is every bit as dysfunctional as it is  in the realm of economics, yet neither conservatives nor progressives recognize it.

The US political system loves dysfunction, because it creates more “business” for itself.

It was at this point in the article I thought this was a summary, but as it turns out, David Stockman does straight into the data after offering this synopsis:

Conservatives want way too much law and police empowerment in the service of cultural  norms that are none of the state’s damn business in the first place; and progressives  confuse the often brutal and unjust over-reach of law enforcement agencies as a  manifestation of racism, when it is actually just policing expectorations in behalf of  inappropriate missions such as the enforcement of drug laws.

The data is revealing for the Nanny State’s real impact on the people, it is deathly.

  1. George Floyd’s fatal arrest for  allegedly passing a counterfeit $20 bill; Eric Garner (NYC 2014), subdual for selling un-taxed cigarettes; Rayshard Brooks for falling asleep drunk in his car at a subsequently  incinerated Wendy’s in Atlanta; and Breonna Taylor of Louisville for being awake in her  own apartment at 1:30 AM when police barged in with guns blaring in a drug  enforcement raid.
  2. In  the most recent year of complete data (2018), there were 9.3 million arrests in the US  excluding traffic enforcement charges of DUI. Yet among this massive number of arrests, those involving serious crimes against persons and property accounted for just  521,000 or 5.6%. These included:  Negligent murder and manslaughter: 11,970;  Rape: 25,205;  Armed robbery: 88,128;  Aggravated assault: 395,800;  That’s it. That’s the contribution to core public safety delivered by the 850,000 sworn  law enforcement officers in the USA—about 0.6 arrests per year for serious crimes per  law enforcement officer.

  3. the single largest category of arrests in 2018 was for drug abuse violations,  which totaled 1,654,282. In fact, while total arrests for all crimes in 2018 were no higher than they were in 1977  despite a 100 million/50% growth in the US population, and had actually dropped from  a peak of nearly 13 million in 2006, the opposite trend was extant in the case of the  nation’s misbegotten War on Drugs arrests.  As shown by the chart below, drug arrests in 2018 were nearly at peak levels and were  up by more than 171% since 1977—the vast majority of which are made for drug  possession generally, and marijuana possession most often.

  4. the next largest arrest category after drugs is one called “other  assaults” for which 1,063,535 arrests were made in 2018. Yet the FBI’s own definitions  raise considerable doubts as to why these are even a proper matter for law enforcement  by the state:

Other assaults (simple)―Assaults and attempted assaults where no  weapon was used or no serious or aggravated injury resulted to the  victim. Stalking, intimidation, coercion, and hazing are included.

  5. Next category we have all the victimless and vice crimes, including the following  number of arrests:  Prostitution and commercialized vice: 31,147; Sex offenses excluding rape and prostitution: 46,937;  Gambling: 3,323;  Liquor law offenses: 173,152;  Curfew and loitering law violations: 22,031;  Vagrancy: 23,546;  Public drunkenness: 328,772;  Disorderly conduct: 329,152;  Forgery and counterfeiting: 50,072;  Weapons carrying and possession: 168,403;  All other offenses: 3,231,700. The latter huge number tells you all you need to know. The UCR lists 27 enumerated  categories of crime including all of those itemized above yet when  the whole lists is exhausted, 32% of arrests occurred for crimes that are so minor even  the FBI is embarrassed to enumerate them!

Nothing like majoring in the minors! But I guess that is what “pays the bills”, Redcoats extracting loot from the people. Some things never change and government will never be your savior from this evil and broken world.

Ya think? Lord Acton was spot on!

The masses seem to believe there are only two options in decision-making, which is why the US political-complex limits itself to GOP and Democrats. Yet there is a third option, a road much less traveled. This is a path that reduces one’s dependency on the Nanny State and takes life underground.

Something to think about right?

The Hand-off Between Generations – More Important than You Think!

There are a lot of important decisions made in life, but none more important than the legacy that is handed to the next generation. Looking back is 20/20 or so, and we can see major drops of the batons between generations, even during a generation when it came to the American Revolution. Many of the founding generation flipped to the controlling side once they were in power, no more was liberty and freedom numero uno but it became safety.

So in the late 1800s when the state made even more inroads into raising children under the state’s control. Big business saw the opportunity to make great factory workers who could be trained in the collective and then could work well in the obedient collective. As John Taylor Gatto said in his book The Underground History of American Education :

Government schooling is the most radical adventure in history. It kills the family by monopolizing the best times of childhood and by teaching disrespect for home and parents.

State control means everyone learns at the same pace, but look at the COST that places on the very treasures (our kids) have to endure, the unintended consequences of good intentions:

David learns to read at age four; Rachel, at age nine: In normal development, when both are 13, you can’t tell which one learned first—the five-year spread means nothing at all. But in school I label Rachel “learning disabled” and slow David down a bit, too. For a paycheck, I adjust David to depend on me to tell him when to go and stop. He won’t outgrow that dependency. I identify Rachel as discount merchandise, “special education” fodder. She’ll be locked in her place forever.

These words were all written well before the 2020 entrance of an effort to mask the healthy, and especially the kids. Below are excerpts from Allan Stevo’s article “Allan Stevo’s Blatant Lie” from Lew Rockwell’s site.

What a blessing a father like that is in a child’s life. So few are like that. A daughter of a father like that will have a head start over nearly any peer, a head start that no amount of treasure left as inheritance can match. There are haves and have nots in this world. The greatest haves of the next generation will come from those children whose parents were not cowardly after the Ides of March 2020, but who were diligent about their values, rather than flexible or apathetic.

Not everyone gets to be born into a family like that. Those who do will have an advantage that money simply can’t buy.

A full-court press is on by the state and the mask is the gateway drug towards other mechanisms of state and ruling elite control measures. While it sounds hopeless, do know that regimes can fall overnight .. but it might take 4 weeks, 4 years or 40 years to get to that night!

.. in the institution of family, we have parents who have relied on the same truths they knew five years ago. A media narrative doesn’t change the truth. The cowardly deserve so little attention. The brave deserve our full attention, our praise, and our emulation, not our denial of the important battle they wage on the behalf of their family, their crew, their community, but also, whether they realize it or not, a battle they wage on the behalf of all humanity.

The brave have gotten us through this tough time and the brave will secure us victory. Anyone on the sidelines, anyone who puts on a mask accomplishes the very opposite.

Be wise as serpents in this. Do your own research into the psychologically, sociologically and so biologically harmful effects of masks to the wearer. The jury is still out on the harmful effects of the so-called vaccines.

We, as individuals, cause a great burden upon others around us when we do not stand up for what is right.

And it’s not just about saying no to a mask every chance you can. It’s about saying no to everything that does not edify and to do it every chance you can. The mask is a gateway, the mask is training ground, and the mask is a symbol for so much more.

If society cannot support the raising of strong, independent, moral, and capable children, then society sabotages itself and calls into question why man even has reason to interact with society, at least if his highest aim, as is the aim for most righteous adults, is to create a home, build a family, and raise a child into adulthood. Hardly are there more important pursuits in life. All else is mere hedonism, argues one contemporary Greek philosopher.

Any pursuit that chips away at family or makes it harder for a parent to protect family brings us closer to the awful abyss where the Faucis of the world seek to lead us.

How many people are obediently following the Faucis, how many people who claim to stand for liberty are following the greatest enemies of liberty?

I do not expect liberals to recognize this. Nor do I expect sheeplike people to recognize this.

I contend that it is the family (and the invisible part of the church that has not bowed down to Caesar) that is the last hope alive for the next season of this nation’s path through totalitarian waters.

Hang on to God, hang on to each other .. the surf’s up dude!

Lost Opportunities: 1776, 1787 and 1861 led to 1865 and Beyond

The efforts toward freedom and liberty have been frustrated for centuries, and it was in the mid-late 1700s where such promise seemed at hand. The American colonies were left on auto-pilot until the British Empire was hoping for some ROI and decided to push for some taxes and control. Please note that human nature’s default is that those in power will push for control as well as compensation for their “management” of society towards orderly conduct.

It does seem to be that the people of this era were pretty well versed (no pun intended) in what they experienced and learned in nature as well as what wisdom could be found in the Bible. It was these kind of people (think Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Paine) that would help draft the Declaration of Independence.

There is a line in this document that does acknowledge ” the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God” as well as “endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness” as well as “that all men are created equal”. That last quote never implies that we are to be made equal by man, but that God sees us each as equal, as in made on God’s image, uniquely.

So in God’s/Nature’s God eyes, we are all equal, BUT we are each unique and never equal while on this earth. We are born with different gifts and talents, with various thinking capacities as well as emotional and physical capacities. Men are not the same as women, but equal in God’s eyes.

The problem comes with the progressive always wants to play god and make plans to “make” everyone equal, to “make” the climate perfect and to second-guess God’s decision that we are either male or female. They think so highly of themselves that they feel they can improve on what God has created. I am guessing if they want to work on themselves, then I say let them. However, they are never content with that .. they want their ideas to be applied across society with force. This is where government enters.

The opposing force to these ideas used to be the church but it seems like there is so much in-fighting in those circles that there is little energy left to bring wisdom to the discussion. Another opposing force, or so I thought, were “conservatives”. Well, while we have heard for decades about the conservative (political) fight .. it is just smoke and mirrors because obviously there are zero principles involved.

The conservatives have not just recently let the people down in this regard, even in 1871 critical thinkers saw the GOP “conservatives” for what they are .. Robert Lewis Dabney here calls them out for what they were in his day:

“.. Northern conservatism. This is a party which never conserves anything. Its history has been that it demurs to each aggression of the progressive party, and aims to save its credit by a respectable amount of growling, but always acquiesces at last in the innovation..”

“.. It is worthless because it is the conservatism of expediency only, and not of sturdy principle. It intends to risk nothing serious for the sake of the truth, and has no idea of being guilty of the folly of martyrdom. It always—when about to enter a protest—very blandly informs the wild beast whose path it essays to stop, that its “bark is worse than its bite,” and that it only means to save its manners by enacting its decent role of resistance. The only practical purpose which it now subserves in American politics is to give enough exercise to Radicalism to keep it “in wind,” and to prevent its becoming pursy and lazy from having nothing to whip…” [source https://www.abbevilleinstitute.org/blog/equality-is-not-americas-founding-principle ]

In summary, it seems like the opportunity presented in 1776 birthed 13 free and independent colonies by 1783, but quickly was swallowed up by the political fears that led to 1787’s coup d’etat when the US Constitution was secretly birthed and ratified in the next two years. No longer was Nature’s God acknowledged until the Confederate Constitution was ratified in 1861.

The failure of the seven, eleven or thirteen states to secede peacefully from the United States of America would put an end of a reliance on “Almighty God” and His Word, the Bible, in trusting Him with our future as a people and as a country.

The future looks more and more like being first century Christians in the Roman Empire.  Always in the minority and always despised until they see the love we can share from our Almighty God and then things may turn around.

Why Do Progressives / Yankees Hate Others So Much?

While many normal people can live and let live, it is and has been apparent that there is a breed of people that makes it their business to not just be critical of your views, opinions and culture, but to dictate to you on how you should live.

Sorry, I believe one is most loving of others when they refuse to should on their friends and attempt to should on their foes alike. You do you as long as you don’t infringe my life or agress on my body, my property or my family. PERIOD!

In addition to this, these people routinely accuse others of doing the very thing they have actually done, but point the Pharisaical finger at others with religious and righteous fervor, all the while lying.

The “Yankee” is best defined by Ronald Kennedy as

I am using the term historically to designate that peculiar ethnic group descended from New Englanders, who can be easily recognized by their arrogance, hypocrisy, greed, lack of congeniality, and penchant for ordering other people around.  Puritans long ago abandoned anything that might be good in their religion but have never given up the notion that they are the chosen saints whose mission is to make America, and the world, into the perfection of their own image.

Yes, this post has to do with the so-called “Civil War”. However, this is also about 2021 as I believe there is a similar break-up brewing where busybodies and do-gooders will comes up with some groups of narratives to paint others as evil, racists and even white-supremacist when they are actually intent on true justice being served, where right is right and wrong is wrong, not this “math is racist” nonsense!

Two facts I would like to point out today that I doubt 1% of the US population was aware of .. that is #1 the real root of “racism” and #2 the real status of Fort Sumter circa 1860:

  1. “.. Jim Crow laws predated the Confederacy and have their origins in…the North. Luxenberg [in his book Separate: The Story of Plessy v. Ferguson, and America’s Journey from Slavery to Segregation (W.W. Norton, 2019) by Steve Luxenberg ] relates this in the first pages of the first chapter, where he writes “[s]eparation had no role in the South before the Civil War… It was the free and conflicted North that gave birth to separation… One of those birthplaces was the Massachusetts town of Salem.” He goes on to recount in detail how, even though blacks comprised but one percent of Massachusetts’s population, “Jim Crow” became a “commonly understood phrase in New England’s lexicon” by the late 1830s. On September 8, 1841, Frederick Douglass himself experienced a healthy dose of Yankee tolerance when he was forcibly ejected off a white car on the way from Salem to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. .. the “free” State of Indiana had a brand new constitution in 1851 that included a clause prohibiting any blacks from settling in their State. This should remind students of history that a significant reason the North was better at avoiding racial issues than the South was that Northerners made every effort to avoid blacks altogether…” [source https://www.abbevilleinstitute.org/review/separate-but-equal ]
  2. “..The first actual act of war [CSA cannon fire on Fort Sumter] was not executed in the open in response to military provocation, but in the dark as a damnable piece of subterfuge involving sabotage and the occupation of the buildings and land of a sovereign state located in a sovereign country that was not the country of the attackers involved! In the darkness of Christmas Eve, 1860, Major Robert Anderson, commandant of the federal forces at Fort Moultrie in Charleston Harbor, left that fort – his assigned post according to his government – and after cutting down the flag pole, spiking the fort’s guns and taking his contingent of soldiers together with all munitions and supplies, stealthily made his way by boat to Fort Sumter situated on an island in Charleston harbor. This was done in secret and without any notification by Anderson’s superiors in the federal government that its troops would leave [Fort] Moultrie and thereupon occupy [Fort] Sumter, a facility that had reverted to South Carolina after the the provisions of the lease held by Washington had been allowed to lapse!  The federal government under outgoing President James Buchanan – who was still in office at the time – had signed an agreement with South Carolina – now part of the newly created Confederate States of America – to make no attempt to relieve, rearm, re-supply or send more federal troops into [Fort] Moultrie in exchange for that State government’s promise not to remove the federal troops in that fort by force. Of course, there was no need to re-supply the fort as the people of Charleston sold food to the federal troops despite the fact that South Carolina was no longer in the federal union. [Fort] Sumter, however, was not part of any agreement because it was no longer a federal facility and such troops as remained in Charleston were assigned to Fort Moultrie! But by leaving Moultrie and moving to Sumter in secret and without informing the State of South Carolina or the newly established Confederate government of which that State was a part, Anderson was committing an act that can only be seen as hostile even if no shots were fired at the time..” [source https://www.abbevilleinstitute.org/blog/the-first-shot-revisited ]

Digging a little deeper, because principles matter, it is apparent that Fort Sumter was purchased, initially on long lease, for the use of a fort to be constructed and then much later on a full purchase price. What the South Carolina Attorney General in 1860 pointed out that Congress had not paid that full purchase price, nor had it maintained in full the original long term lease payments part of the contracts, but had invested heavily in the construction costs of the fort. Hence the legal forms of ownership revert to SC due to failure to fulfill the contractual obligations.

Basically, South Carolina had passed full and complete transfer of property to Congress, on the understanding Congress would actually

a) pay the lease while construction of the fort was undertaken, and

b) much later, acquire full property rights after making full payment to South Carolina, along with outstanding lease payments.

The US Congress had never done so, which was why it [Fort Sumter] was not a federal post, as it was not federal property, and why President Buchanan and his US Attorney General were aghast when without orders General Anderson moved to it.

I highly doubt your high school or college American history teacher taught you the finer points of US history, but taught you that racism and Jim Crow laws originated in the southern slavery plantations and that Fort Sumter was “federal property”.  All fake news.

Peace out

It is true we are completely under the saddle of Massachusetts and Connecticut, and that they ride us very hard, cruelly insulting our feelings, as well as exhausting our strength and substance.

—Thomas Jefferson, 1798

PS Maybe next time we take on the KKK’s (2nd incarnation from 1915-1926) origin and popularity .. ain’t a Southern thing .. as Indiana’s KKK numbered 160,000 to 400,000 alone!

They [2nd Klan] represented the North Eastern Puritan ruling class historical beliefs and religious traditions almost perfectly.  If anything they spread these beliefs to people and places where they generally didn’t exist.  As to being Southern, few of the beliefs and characteristics of the 2nd Klan trace at all to the antebellum South which had a very different religious heritage from the activist North.  This argument is nothing more than looking in the mirror, not liking what you see, and claiming it’s an image of someone else.
