From Moon of Alabama’s research, it is very important to know that what you SEE in each day’s COVID-19 “data” is only a portion of the truth. I believe that most people typically see only what is apparent at first glance. This is why when they hear a politician promise free ___ (you fill in the blank), they can only see the benefit, and not the expense, sacrifice or slavery that would be required to give someone something for nothing.
For a great rabbit trail on this topic, Frederic Bastiat’s book ‘The Law’ and his essay on ‘That Which is Seen, and that Which is Not Seen’ are outstanding (this and other of Frederic’s works available for free at the Mises Institute’s Bastiat’s Collection):
The essay “That Which is Seen, and that Which is Not Seen,” states: “In the department of economy, an act, a habit, an institution, a law, gives birth not only to an effect, but to a series of effects. Of these effects, the first only is immediate; it manifests itself simultaneously with its cause–it is seen. The others unfold in succession–they are not seen: it is well for us, if they are foreseen. Between a good and a bad economist this constitutes the whole difference — the one takes account of the visible effect; the other takes account both of the effects which are seen, and also of those which it is necessary to foresee.”
The ability to “foresee” the effects of decisions made are priceless in any family, business and especially the government. Wise people have this gift, so I am guessing that government tends to discard wise people for “yes men”. But I digress …
When one hears that there are 25 confirmed cases and 0 deaths from COVID-19 in one’s state (in the USA) or province (in Canada), etc. … that does NOT mean there are only 25 cases of COVID-19 in this geographical location.
.. one has to know that “confirmed” just indicates those who were tested POSITIVE for COVID-19.
So what does that mean? Well, similar to government stats, it is only part of the story. L. Reichard White explains in this article:
In the early stages — when the number infected is still managable — there are the folks who are known to have COVID-19 and those who have come in contact with them and test positive or come down with the disease.
Barring that, however, someone worried about their symptoms would have to take themselves to a doctor or medical pro etc. who’s plugged into the reporting network.
But suppose they’re not sick enough — or worried enough — to seek a medical opinion? Or feel they can’t afford the medical system. Or are asymptomatic — that is, while infected, don’t show symptoms and so don’t know they’re infected.
So there are a lot of infected people that do not show up in this count. On the other hand, there are people included in this count that should not be since there has been historically a 47% false positive rate associated with the COVID-19 testing!
So we have to compensate for false positives and false negatives, but then there is the unknown carrier of this novel virus who may carry this 2-30 days WITHOUT symptoms!
… for the entire incubation period which is thought to be at least 14 days and possibly as long as 37 days. Also, possibly, even after recovery.
Add to this the fact that 80% of people might have ZERO symptoms when they get infected with this novel virus!
OK, so by now you are thinking, what if anything does the “official” counts do for the average person? Well, it does give one a sense of the tip of this iceberg.
This explains why there’s no centralized way to stop the spread of COVID-19. Which means it’s up to you to protect yourself and your family as best you can.
So vitamin D (best accomplished with sunshine), vitamin C and practical (not obsessive) hand-washing should do.
OK, now that the panic has a chance to subside, and that toilet paper is once again is available in the marketplace, how about we all refuse to act like sheep and wait on the government to tell us what to think and do next. Let’s all do a little CSI in the weeks to come about how this all came about and why has it led to so much panic?
While the news of a virus spreading across the globe is a little disconcerting, it does reflect on a society’s character when panic sets in. This means that the people in general have placed their hope and faith in the government to keep them safe in all aspects right? Post-9/11, the last time the people were shocked to see death brought to the mainland, it was the government that stepped it up, grabbed much more control and said “we will keep you safe”. The majority of Americans rallied around Bush II from both political parties, churches also followed suit and the US military was allowed to INVADE Afghanistan and then Iraq to ….. what was their mission? Only later after a ton of CSI is was proven that the government’s own narrative for all this as well as their reaction was a lie. Interesting how the US is STILL in these two countries two decades later.
So this COVID-19 event has again allowed the government to ratchet up its control mechanisms and over-reach.
Once they have enabled the sheep to be scared, they can easily direct the sheep to the right pen to stay safe from the wolves. Never before has it been so important to educate the masses some way so they don’t continue to act like asses. This is indeed a teachable moment, because all it takes is for the government to over play their hand, the government’s real agenda can be revealed and its overreach scaled back peacefully and voluntarily in an ideal world.
It does seem that all the crazy preppers don’t seem so crazy anymore. It does seem like those who doubted the government’s intentions on a list of things over the past decades are now finally smiling and are not looked on as outcasts of society, marginalized by the sheeple.
For this post, I do think that people would welcome some distraction from the pressing things of life as the normal is gone for a time. Maybe doing a little research can help us all stay balanced and less reactive to a world we think is out of control.
Nextstrain is an open-source project to harness the scientific and public health potential of pathogen genome data. We provide a continually-updated view of publicly available data alongside powerful analytic and visualization tools for use by the community. Our goal is to aid epidemiological understanding and improve outbreak response.
Almost 500 genomes of COVID-19 are being tracked:
There are plenty of job-aids to help anyone understand the jargon used in this field, this might be a great learning opportunity as we should all know this will NOT be the last NOVEL virus to accomplish this feat of global spread. With the Internet, one can find SO many graphs that help display what is REALLY going on that the government will not share, so as to keep the fear level high and the herd’s desire to have government make them safe again.
Thomas DiLorenzo directed me this morning to remember what Randolph Bornne said over 100 years ago:
“It automatically sets in motion throughout society those irresistible forces for uniformity, for passionate cooperation with the Government in coercing into obedience the minority groups of individuals which lack the larger herd sense. The machinery of government sets and enforces the drastic penalties, the minorities are either intimidated into silence or brought slowly around by a subtle process of persuasion.”
“There is . . . in the feeling toward the State a large element of pure filial mysticism. This sense of insecurity, the desire for protection, sends one’s desire back to the father and mother, with whom is associated the earliest feeling of protection . . . . [I]n Uncle Sam we have a symbol of protecting, kindly authority, and in the many Mother-posts of the Red Cross, we see how easily . . . the ruling organization is conceived in family terms. [People become] obedient, respectful, trustful children again, full of that naïve faith in the all-wisdom and all-power of the adult who takes care of them, imposes his mild but necessary rule upon them and in whom they lose their responsibility and anxieties. In this recrudescence of the child, there is great comfort.”
“On most people the strain of being an independent adult weights heavily.” The State provides a way of eliminating “the psychic burden of adulthood.”
— Randolph Bourne, writing about the effects of the national emergency of war on the population in his famous 1918 essay, “War is the Health of the State.”
With all this in mind, I would like to share with you a little tidbit of what I have found in the past few weeks that are very enlightening.
Media (i.e. the US Government and Deep State) have been pushing the China origin of COVID-19 as being in China now for a couple months, this is not unlike how the US Government did the same thing regarding Iraq’s WMDs in the lead up to the Iraq invasion and occupation almost 20 years ago. Sheep are highly resilient to any contrary thought than the one they were told first!
Larry Romanoff from Global Research has been doing his own research around some very good CSI work that lays out the COVID-19 timeline a bit further back than the US Government wants to allow. What if we go back to this event on 08AUG2019?
Now let us look at a couple of events in the fall of 2019 that happened after this:
Taiwanese physician noted that in August of 2019 the US had a flurry of lung pneumonias or similar, which the Americans blamed on ‘vaping’ from e-cigarettes, but which, according to the scientist, the symptoms and conditions could not be explained by e-cigarettes. He said he wrote to the US officials telling them he suspected those deaths were likely due to the coronavirus. He claims his warnings were ignored.
Japanese citizens [were] infected in September of 2019, in Hawaii, people who had never been to China, these infections occurring on US soil long before the outbreak in Wuhan but only shortly after the locking down of Fort Detrick.
Five “foreign” athletes or other personnel visiting Wuhan for the World Military Games (October 18-27, 2019) were hospitalised in Wuhan for an undetermined infection.
The first 41 hospitalized patients who had confirmed infections with what has been dubbed 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV). In the earliest case, the patient became ill on 1 December 2019 and had no reported link to the seafood market, the authors report. “No epidemiological link was found between the first patient and later cases”, they state. Their data also show that, in total, 13 of the 41 cases had no link to the marketplace.
Earlier reports from Chinese health authorities and the World Health Organization had said the first patient had onset of symptoms on 8 December 2019 – and those reports simply said “most” cases had links to the seafood market, which was closed on 1 January.
Finally we have reached the “official narrative’s” first data-point. So there is a LOT more to this COVID-19 story isn’t there? Just like 9/11!!!
Additional things that spark curiosity include:
Kristian Andersen is an evolutionary biologist at the Scripps Research Institute who has analyzed sequences of 2019-nCoV to try to clarify its origin .. “Andersen posted his analysis of 27 available genomes of 2019-nCoV on 25 January on a virology research website. It suggests they had a “most recent common ancestor” – meaning a common source – as early as 1 October 2019.”
OK, so is there precedent to having a wrong narrative early in the rollout of a major health crisis? Yes, of course:
It was interesting that Lucey also noted that MERS was originally believed to have come from a patient in Saudi Arabia in June of 2012, but later and more thorough studies traced it back to an earlier hospital outbreak of unexplained pneumonia in Jordan in April of that year. Lucey said that from stored samples from people who died in Jordan, medical authorities confirmed they had been infected with the MERS virus.
This would provide impetus for caution among the public in accepting the “official standard narrative” that the Western media are always so eager to provide – as they did with SARS, MERS, and ZIKA, all of which ‘official narratives’ were later proven to have been entirely wrong.
How about that. Do you remember hearing from our media that all the earlier thoughts on the origin of previous viruses might have been in error? No! We never hear this because this would be in fine print or on page 35 of the traditional newspaper. This is the same MO as government when they make a mistake, they NEVER apologize.
Larry’s summary paragraph should prompt some independent research on any critical thinker’s part:
It would seem the only possibility for origination is the US because only that country has the “tree trunk” of all the varieties. And it may therefore be true that the original source of the COVID-19 virus was the US military bio-warfare lab at Fort Detrick. This would not be a surprise, given that the CDC completely shut down Fort Detrick, but also because, as I related in an earlier article, between 2005 and 2012 the US had experienced 1,059 events where pathogens had been either stolen or escaped from American bio-labs during the prior ten years – an average of one every three days.
No you know, so get out there in nature and think for yourself what might really be happening around you. Fear should not be your reaction, sheep do that, you might want to take in what you see and compare it to the truth like we seen in the movie “Shooter” many years ago:
Critical thinking requires considering a thought before accepting it. So too in the hunt for the origin of Covid-19, one has to be open to possibilities and use the data at hand to assist in pointing to the source, just like in CSI, Crime Scene Investigations.
I had seen reports in the middle of February that have now been re-publicized by Lew Rockwell’s site in today’s article by Larry Romanoff where he says:
The basic logic is that the geographical location with the greatest diversity of virus strains must be the original source because a single strain cannot emerge from nothing. He demonstrated that only the US has all the five known strains of the virus (while Wuhan and most of China have only one, as do Taiwan and South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam, Singapore, and England, Belgium and Germany), constituting a thesis that the haplotypes in other nations may have originated in the US.
This is how CSI is conducted. The MSM narrative will always mislead the sheep so one has to get to the source data to understand what is really happening (which is why Assange has been detailed and denied freedom, he found the source data and the ruling elites hate that).
Once we consider that the US trade war might just be part of why the narrative points to China, we can then connect the dots of the events that happened during this ongoing trade war:
Just for information
In the past two years (during the trade war) China has suffered several pandemics:
February 15, 2018: H7N4 bird flu. Sickened at least 1,600 people in China and killed more than 600. Many chickens killed. China needs to purchase US poultry products.
June, 2018: H7N9 bird flu. Many chickens killed. China needs to purchase US poultry products.
August, 2018: outbreak of African swine flu. Same strain as Russia, from Georgia. Millions of pigs killed. China needs to purchase US pork products.
May 24, 2019: massive infestation of armyworms in 14 province-level regions in China, which destroy most food crops. Quickly spread to more than 8,500 hectares of China’s grain production. They produce astonishing numbers of eggs. China needs to purchase US agricultural products – corn, soybeans.
December, 2019: Coronavirus appearance puts China’s economy on hold.
January, 2020: China is hit by a “highly pathogenic” strain of bird flu in Hunan province. Many chickens died, many others killed. China needs to purchase US poultry products.
The author says that bad luck happens in “threes” not “sixes” .. great point!
Add to that the fact that the Iran version of Covid-19 is more potent than China’s so this might be follow-up to the Iranian general’s assasination?
It is worth noting that the variety in Italy has approximately the same fatality rate as that of China, three times as great as other nations, while the haplotype in Iran appears to be the deadliest with a fatality rate of between 10% and 25%.
Now I am not saying that this is fact, but to have the truth start to be pieced together is a great thing .. just like the STUXNET virus .. a computer worm that targeted Iran’s centrifuges used in nuclear development. The truth that the worm originated from the US/Israel and it later spread to other countries as the unintended consequences of “good” intentions.
… those spooks responsible for “offensive technologies” don’t realise the unintended consequences of releasing malware into the wild.
“Everything you do is a boomerang,” he added. “It will get back to you.” – Eugene Kaspersky
If anyone bothered to observe the news other than Covid-19 this week, there was a tense situation in and around the Idlib province of Syria that had the potential for bringing in NATO on the side of Turkey and Russian ships and troops on the side of Syria. The obvious question for me was, WHY would NATO consider joining Turkish forces IN Syria? But then I remembered, the US Empires troops are STILL on Syrian soil .. so the big empire models how to act ABOVE THE LAW to the little empire.
Scott Ritter’s article in Ron Paul’s Institute for Peace and Prosperity places what Russia accomplished this week in proper perspective:
This week’s meeting between Presidents Putin and Erdogan in Moscow was cast as preventing a war between Russia and Turkey in Syria. War, however, was never on the horizon. Putin called Erdogan’s bluff, and the Turk folded.
One has to admit that since Russia’s invite by Syria in 2015 to directly assist in repelling the ISIS and other radical militia incursion, financed and backed by US/UK/SaudiArabia/Israel coalition, Putin has played it all very cool and extremely patient. Many times there was open second guessing going on within Russia and Syria as to the strategic approach to this intervention that the US had openly hoped would result in “regime change” so that the US (actually Israel, the US Empire’s other little brother) could benefit with Assad out of the way.
Here we are five YEARS later as Russia negotiates a slow and methodical way to return Syria to Syrians while keeping the US Empire and NATO only marginally involved. One has to wonder how many weapons that the Syrian and Russian armies have found US serial numbers on. I am pretty sure there is a database somewhere with all that information for a special time in the future.
Scott Ritter goes on to explain:
Over the course of a week, from February 27 through March 5, Syria’s Idlib province transitioned from being ground zero for a war between the Syrian army and allied forces, and heavily armed groups opposed to the rule of Syrian President Bashar Assad, into a geopolitical powder keg that threatened to pull the Turkish and Russian militaries into direct conflict with one another. On March 1, Turkey, following up on threats previously made by President Erdogan to drive the Syrian Army and its allies back to the line of demarcation set forth in the original Sochi Agreement, unleashed a major offensive, dubbed “Operation Spring Shield” and involving thousands of Turkish troops fighting alongside anti-Assad formations.
Erdogan also inserted himself into the Syrian civil war (thanks Hillary, Obama and McCain for your “service”, I am sure the people of Libya love y’all and love ‘Merica as a result you dirt-bags) and has been attempting to play off the US Empire / NATO against Russia. Finally, Russia, as a “partner” enlightened Erdogen as to the errors of his ways in a way that allowed Turkey to save face as they retreated. (The US Empire has yet to understand their 2nd, let alone the 3rd and 4th effects of their approach to squashing a powder-keg, as brute force seems to be their motto.)
While the Putin orchestrated agreement is only a placeholder for lasting peace, it is a step in the right direction:
While couched as a ceasefire agreement, the additional protocol produced by the Moscow summit between Putin and Erdogan on Thursday is a thinly disguised instrument of surrender. The Syrian government got everything it was looking for by launching its offensive, and the Turks and their anti-Assad allies were left licking their wounds in a much-reduced Idlib pocket. Beyond preventing direct conflict between Turkey and Russia, the additional protocol achieves little that changes the situation on the ground. Turkey is still faced with the task of disarming the HTS fighters it currently embraces as allies, and the humanitarian crisis triggered by hundreds of thousands of refugees displaced by the earlier fighting remains. In many ways, the additional protocol, like its antecedent, the Sochi Agreement, is an arrangement designed to fail, because by succeeding it only perpetuates an unsustainable reality that will only be resolved when the totality of Syrian territory is restored to the control of the Syrian government.
So with the Russian “non-empire” strategy in mind, let’s take a look at how the US Empire’s fight (remember the “brute force” MO?) against militias that had nothing to do with 9/11 has panned out after 18.5 years, where instead of surgically targeting the 200 or so AlQ groups that “might” have been linked to 9/11, the US military decided to invade the whole country.(graphic below)
There is no end in sight for this in spite of the bogus Trump peace proposal that depends on the WORD of the US Empire to be believed. Sorry Trump .. from the American Indians to all the broken treaties the US government has bullied its way forward in time to 2020, there is no one on earth that ever believes what the US government says .. EXCEPT the domestic sheep that worship America as their lord and savior.
Like most people my age, #60+, I can remember a time when we all were a LOT more free. Rifles in the pickup trucks, shooting guns near suburban neighborhoods, playing outside ALL day with the parents not really knowing where their kids were at. This was all “normal”.
Also during this time, it was the college campuses that allowed and even encouraged thinking and expressing one’s own thoughts no matter how popular they might be. Anti-government speech was not just tolerated, it was at the heart of what it meant to be an American, the Spirit of ’76!
Well those days are long gone, and the transition to where we are today was not a linear one at all. At first there was some minor deviation, but in the past 5-10 years, the college campuses are more group-think than ever, where the narrative of the day is king, where thought police thrive.
This is not the first time this has happened, but it does seem to be the first time it has happened without a war in the past 150 years, but it does have some similarities to a time in American history over 220 years ago where the thought police surfaced, when the “Land of the Free” enacted the Alien and Sedition Act in 1798 which …:
made it a federal crime to publish any false, scandalous or malicious writing – even if true – about the president or the federal government
You see, freedom of speech is a natural, God-given right that governments can and will take away. In the “Land of the Free” in 1798, there were many who took issue with this course change that occurred only 22 years after the thirteen American colonies sought independence from the British Empire. When Thomas Jefferson became president, he and his administration repealed this act. However, one this course change is embedded in a nation’s/empire’s DNA, there is no going back:
Abraham Lincoln arrested Northerners who challenged the Civil War. Woodrow Wilson arrested Americans who challenged World War I. FDR arrested Americans he thought might not support World War II. LBJ and Richard Nixon used the FBI to harass hundreds whose anti-Vietnam protests frustrated them.
In our own post 9/11 era, the chief instrument of repression of personal freedom has been the government’s signature anti-terror legislation: the Patriot Act. The Patriot Act permits FBI agents to write their own search warrants and gives those warrants the patriotic and harmless-sounding name of national security letters (NSLs). This authorization is in direct violation of the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which says that the people shall be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects from unreasonable searches and seizures, and that that security can only be violated by a search warrant issued by a neutral judge and based upon probable cause of crime.
To most libertarians, this is where we are today, where the government has successfully transitioned the US Empire to a static point where the “Land of the Free” is no more. However, there is yet another effort that has been made in the past five years or so to continue the transition towards a totalitarian state, and this one comes from the corporate side of Lincoln’s dream of mercantilism, where government and big corporations become two wings of the same bird.
As Rod Dreher of Russian Insider indicates in this article, “A Russian Woman Working as a College Professor in the US Writes About the Sovietization of Amerika”, it seems that it is the former citizens of the old USSR are the most sensitized to this trend the most while typical Americans see this as no big deal, much like the Germans in 1930’s Germany as the Nazi’s came to power.
Clarissa [not her real name] is a college professor who emigrated to the US from Russia as a young woman, a few years after the fall of the Soviet Union. She is yet another ex-Soviet bloc person who is extremely anxious about the emergence of soft totalitarianism here. Of course she can’t use her real name, because she fears professional retaliation. It should tell us something that not a single academic from a former communist country that I interviewed for this book was willing to speak using their own name — this, in the Land of the Free. Why not? Because they were afraid of facing professional consequences for speaking out against identity politics and the “social justice” regime.
I am pretty sure if I were to chart out freedom in the USA, we are now at an all-time low as both the government and corporate America are actively seeking out dissenters to the latest narratives. The tools are in place to “take out” people professionally both in social media attacks:
Totalitarianism is something that takes away from people the unbearable burden of freedom. It allows many people to hound and persecute with impunity. That is pleasant in many senses. There was a practice in the Soviet Union where people would be told to get together in groups at work and write letters to the newspaper to denounce famous poets or artists. We see that today in Twitter. People love that because it allows a little person to completely destroy somebody who has done something great.
.. as well inside universities and corporations with diversity and sensitivity training in the workplaces:
All your co-workers are enemies. Either they can get you in trouble, or they are out to destroy you with an accusation. It destroys all sorts of uncontrollable communities – friendship, families, church communities. When you set people against each other, they are much easier to control. This is what it was like under totalitarianism.
So one might think I just need to be more careful about what I share in certain social circles. But that is not how this works, to see how any flavor of totalitarianism actually works, we need to learn from those who lived there:
… wokeness in corporate America is a weapon used by white-collar professionals to weed out competitors for increasingly scarce jobs. She said, “People find ideological purity tests useful to weed out people who compete for jobs you cover. Progressive forces are completely allied with globalist capitalism.”
She also said that people have no idea how vulnerable they are to this mindset, because of social media. “You will not be able to predict what will be held against you tomorrow. You have no idea what completely normal thing you do today, or say today, will be used against you to destroy you. This is what people in the Soviet Union saw. We know how this works. This is why people like me are so upset today.
One would think that at least the church might be a place where one can be real in this regard. Anyone who understands the 1st century church, it was the underground Christians in the Roman Empire that actually turned the then-known-world upside-down NOT with violence or revolution, but with love of their neighbor where .. :
[NOTE: It seems that true “diversity” does not focus on division based on race, sex or anything else. A true team sees each unique God-created individual as part of the crew that can help to keep the ship afloat.]
Well, a note of caution, most of the churches today, especially ones with government registration in place (501c3), are part of the corporate woke-ness effort underway in this country. Most of the church of today bears little resemblance to the church in the generation after Jesus was killed by religion and empire.
Until this trend is reversed, the ‘circle of trust’ is going to get mighty small. Take your time in knowing who your friends are, it is better to be lonely than to be a fresh target for either empire or corporate-elite.
